About Me

I am an international education professional located in Washington, DC with six years of professional experience. I am passionate about internationalizing higher education and fostering more effective communication across cultures.

I love learning from people with different backgrounds, skills, and experience. My experiences studying, working, and traveling abroad have reinforced my desire and ability to communicate with diverse populations and to play an active role in promoting intercultural understanding.

I am a candidate (December 2015) for a Master of Arts in International Education Management and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and French.

Welcome! Bienvenue!

My Story

I have been inadvertently cultivating a passion for intercultural communication and international education for many years. My “aha moment” struck after I finished a contract with the Teaching Assistantship Program in France (TAPIF). Nearly a year earlier, I had resigned from my position as Marketing Coordinator for Albuquerque’s second largest independent school, tempted by the opportunity for another stint abroad and excited to serve as a cultural ambassador for French high school students. But returning from such an amazing experience was tough.

After reading what felt like hundreds of uninspiring job descriptions, I came across an opening for a study abroad advisor. I felt something spark inside me that I hadn't felt before; I needed that job. Because I lacked the necessary training, I didn't get it. But the posting still left me with an unexpected gift. That simple solicitation illuminated my passion and made me realize that all of my experience and skills channeled perfectly into the field of international education. I arrived at the Middlebury Institute ready to write the next chapter. I look forward to continuing my journey in the Washington, DC area.
